A roof is one of the biggest expenses a homeowner will ever face. For some families, the timing never works out. A storm hits, a job changes, an illness comes up, and the roof keeps waiting.
A-RITE Exteriors is a GAF Master Elite contractor. Through the GAF Community Contractor program, we can put a full roofing system on a home for a family who needs one. We donate our labor. GAF donates the roofing materials. A family gets a roof that protects their home for years to come.
We have been working on Central Wisconsin homes since 2002. This is one of the best parts of the job.
How it works
1. Tell us about them
Fill out the form. It takes about three minutes. You can nominate a neighbor, a friend, a family member, or yourself.
2. We review and take a look
We read every nomination that comes in. If one moves forward, we look at the roof, take photos, and talk with the homeowner about what the project would involve.
3. We install the roof
Our crew handles the work start to finish, cleans up daily, and walks the property with the homeowner when we are done.
Who can be nominated
- The home is in our Central Wisconsin service area
- The person nominated owns the home and lives in it
- The roof needs to be replaced or significantly repaired
- The homeowner is open to having the project photographed and shared

What helps us understand the need
The more we know, the better. Helpful details include:
- What is going on with the roof (leaks, missing shingles, age, damage inside the home)
- What the family is dealing with right now
- How you know them
- Photos of the roof, if you have any
You do not need perfect information. Write what you know and we will take it from there.
A few honest notes
We want to be upfront with you. We can only take on a small number of these projects, so submitting a nomination does not mean a roof is coming. We read every nomination that arrives, but we are only able to follow up on the ones that move forward. If you do not hear back from us, your nomination was still read, and we appreciate you taking the time.
If the home already has an active insurance claim, that is usually the better path for the homeowner. We are happy to talk it through. We cannot make any promises about what an insurance company will or will not cover.
Common questions
Does the homeowner pay anything?
No. The roof is provided at no cost to the family we select.
Can I nominate myself?
Yes. Plenty of people do, and it does not count against the nomination.
Can I nominate someone without telling them?
Yes. If the nomination moves forward, we will need to speak with the homeowner before anything happens, since it is their home and their decision.
How do I know if the home is in your service area?

Do you have to take photos of the project?
Yes. Photos and video are part of how this program works, and they help us share the story with the community. That is why we ask about it on the form.
